Pentjak Silat Serak is one of the most powerfully effective arts of combat ever to emerge from Asia, yet the origins and techniques of this fighting system have been shrouded in mystery - until now
Serak is more than a martial art, it is a transformative journey that taps into ancient wisdom to reshape the way you live, think, and move
Passed down through generations, Serak connects you to a deeper intelligence that sharpens not just your body but your entire being. It teaches you to move with precision, strike with intent, and approach every challenge in life with the same clarity and focus you’d apply in combat.
Training in Serak is a process of self-discovery. Each technique, each movement, is designed to enhance your awareness and cultivate mental resilience. As you master the art, you begin to see the world differently. You become more attuned to your body, more deliberate in your actions, and more present in every moment. The lessons learned in Serak extend far beyond fighting, they transform your mindset, your approach to obstacles, and your ability to respond with calm, measured decisions.
Serak doesn’t just make you stronger, it awakens a sense of clarity, control, and confidence. It’s a path that improves your physical strength, sharpens your mind, and deepens your connection to the wisdom of the past, guiding you to live with intention, purpose, and an unwavering sense of focus
Curriculum
The Serak curriculum is designed for simplicity and effectiveness, the founder developed exercises, attributes and structural princples that utilise natural body weapons, including:
Jurus: Condition the internal body to express efficient power, balance and control.
Sambuts: Partnered movement for the purpose of practicing the principles of combat.
Langkhas: Leg and footwork patterns for the development of strong effecient body alignment and support.
Sambutans: Develop timing speed & reflexes while maintaining a continually flowing motion.
Tendjekan: Operate fast powerful & efficient combinations in a short space
Weapons: Staff, blade and stick, used as a force multiplier, increase striking power & speed
Kembangen: Free-form movement, referred to as the war dance.
Serak Elbows
The martial art of Serak devides the body into three sections, where each section can work independently if need be, or as a complete unit.
The first section comprises the upper limbs from the head to the arms. The second is from the shoulders to the waist and the third from the waist to the feet. When one part of the structure is weak, trapped or incapacitated, the other dimension will compensate.
One of the unique features of Serak is the system of training platforms. Theses are designed to develop correct base, angle and leverage principles to enable the adoption of true power meridian lines.
Sequence for the platforms
Latihan Tiga
Langka Tiga
Pantjar 1-4
The first platform for the student is the Tiga (three or triangle). This facilitates the development of 360-degree techniques for facing opponents attacking from all sides. Footwork, posture and Jurus are all intrinsic to the Tiga.
The Pantjar is the more advanced three dimensional training platform for the development of constant fluid change and awareness. These training platforms are drawn on the floor and serve to guide the development of multidimensional movement skills based on dealing with singular and multiple-opponent attacks.
